Ian Ailles

Managing Director, European Rentals
Group RCI

Ian Ailles is Managing Director of European Rentals for Group RCI, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation and the global leader in vacation exchange and European rentals with exclusive access for specified periods to more than 67,000 vacation properties around the world.

Ailles joined Group RCI in 2007 as Chief Finance and Operations Officer, EMEA. Ailles worked for Thomas Cook plc for nine years. He sat on the Board of Thomas Cook UK as Group Finance Director, and Thomas Cook India as Senior non-Executive Director. As Managing Director, he then led the Specialist Businesses of Thomas Cook, growing their revenues and driving change.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Ailles is Chairman of the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO), which he recently successfully merged with the Association of British Travel Agents. He also serves as the Treasurer of the Travel Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focused on the sustainability of tourism.

Ailles is a qualified chartered accountant. He gained his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Durham University in 1987 and gained his ACA in 1990. He is married with two young children and enjoys competitive sport, including 5 a-side soccer, tennis and squash. He is also an amateur cellist, playing when time permits.
